When looking for a new job, it can seem like you are going around in circles, reading the paper, checking the internet and asking your friends if they know anyone looking for staff.

However, this is the most important part of looking for a job – being repetitive. You need to make sure you check for jobs regularly because as soon as you stop looking for a few days, the perfect job for you could pop up, and by the time you see it, the deadline will be too close to put together a good application.

When looking for the perfect job, there are many places and tactics you can employ. You should start by applying at recruitment agencies as they will keep all of your details on file and call you if they find a job to suit you.

Recruitment agencies are effective job seeking tools as many companies will go straight to a recruitment agency instead of going through the hassle of advertising in the paper when they need staff. The recruitment agency can then forward any applicant’s details which suit and the company is not bombarded with desperate applicants.

When searching for a job on the internet, it can be hard to visit each job site every day. Therefore, many employment sites have an email notification system where you enter the type of job you are looking for and you are emailed when a job matching that description is posted.

Also, don’t worry about sounding desperate when asking your friends and family if they know of any vacancies in your field as while many companies use a recruitment agency so they don’t have to bother with applicants, many more companies will simply fill the position by word of mouth.
